Hoosier Boys and Girls State

Hoosier Girls State: June 18-24, 2017 at Trine University
Hoosier Boys and Girls State are programs designed to educate young men and women of Indiana in the duties, privileges, rights and responsibilities of citizenship. It is a week of living and learning the political system of Indiana through a mythical City, County and State. It is viewed as an honor to be selected for Hoosier Boys and Girls State, and many colleges give special consideration for admission and scholarships to former delegates.
Delegates must be a junior in high school, and have a 3.0 cumulative GPA or higher. They must demonstrate leadership abilities, be honest and possess good character. If selected, delegates must agree to stay for the entire week, barring any emergencies. The cost for the week is paid for by the American Legion (Boys) and the Westfield Lions Club (Girls).
Students should fill out the application found below and return to the School Counseling Center by February 10, 2017. The student and the parent must both sign the application, indicating that the student will be available to attend the entire week-long program.
Girls State Application and Guidelines 2017
The selected WHS delegate and alternate will be notified by February 17, 2017. The chosen delegate and alternate must also complete an official American Legion Hoosier Boys or Girls State application which must be signed by a parent.
